How the signs pair up
Western: fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). Signs of one element share a rhythm; fire and air feed each other, earth and water nourish each other.
Chinese: four trines of friends (Rat, Dragon, Monkey · Ox, Snake, Rooster · Tiger, Horse, Dog · Rabbit, Goat, Pig), six secret-friend pairs such as Rat and Ox, and six opposite pairs such as Rat and Horse, six years apart.

What your compatibility result means
Western pairs are compared by element, and Chinese pairs by their traditional trines, secret friends and opposites. The result describes the kind of energy between two signs: easy harmony, a spark that helps both grow, or opposites that complete each other. It doesn't say whether a relationship will work; the people in it decide that.
How sign compatibility is viewed
Sign compatibility is one of astrology's most popular topics, filling magazine pages and social media posts about which signs make the best couples. In Chinese tradition, families sometimes considered a couple's animals when arranging a marriage and tried to avoid the six opposite pairs. Today most people treat both versions as a fun conversation starter.
Western and Chinese together
If your Western signs are opposites but your Chinese animals are in harmony, you get two different pictures, and both are interesting. Read them as two lenses rather than one final score, and notice which one feels truer for the two of you.
How it can help you
Use the result to talk about differences with curiosity instead of frustration. A fire sign and a water sign might talk about pace and feelings; a Rat and a Horse about planning and freedom. Harmony pairs can talk about how to keep things fresh.
An honest note
Compatibility charts are traditions, not science, and every pair can build something good. That's why our lowest result is 45%.
